October is a big month for Def Leppard, and the band’s longtime guitarist Phil Collen. The veteran rockers will wind down a lengthy U.S. tour with a new series of dates featuring Foreigner beginning Monday, and will release a new, self-titled studio album on October 30. As for Collen, he has a brand-new memoir titled Adrenalized: Life, Def Leppard, and Beyond that will be published on October 27.

The memoir, which Phil co-wrote with award-winning author Chris Epting, charts Def Leppard’s rise to superstardom, while also focusing on the group’s struggle to persevere the wake of the tragedies that befell some of the members after the band hit it big. Among the dramatic events Collen recounts in the book are the 1985 car crash that cost drummer Rick Allen his left arm and guitarist Steve Clark‘s alcohol-related death in 1991. Adrenalized also includes a variety of never-before-seen photos of the band members.

To celebrate the release of Adrenalized, Collen will take part in a Q&A and book-signing session on October 19 at the Barnes & Noble store in Huntington Beach, California.
